Whats in a name
fouryokesbooks
You might wonder why the four yokes. Well, to begin with, it represented four very close friends, who had amazing adventures hunting the blue seas along the coast of Mozambique. So, in a way, it serves to honour my commitment to keep the friendships alive. But more than that, it is a simple reminder, of just how complex the English language can be, and the latitude that the written word allows, where the intended meaning, is not always how it is perceived.
Being a writer who creates fictional stories from ideas that pop into my head, is a wonderful feeling. You become an artist, your medium words, turning a blank canvas into an intricate picture, allowing readers to experience, through their mind’s eye, the many tones that make up a good story. There is surely nothing like a good book. It transports you to another world, safe in the comfort of your favourite reading chair, with nothing to do but relax, as you are spirited away into an imaginary world, where, as the pages are turned, you are dragged ever deeper into the mix. Your emotions a rollercoaster of highs and lows, not really wanting the story to end, but eager to see how it will all pan out. Reading a good book allows us to escape, if just for a moment, the everyday pressures of daily living, and in a world gone mad, it is a safe haven where pleasures are easily found.
I am currently living on the south coast of Cornwall with my partner, Dixi, and our dog, Jo.

Our Creative Mission
fouryokesbooks was founded to break away from conventional storytelling in fiction. We believe adult readers deserve narratives that are as gripping and unpredictable as fiction, yet firmly rooted in reality. Our mission is to deliver books that blur boundaries and provoke thought, drawing from a rich palette of real-life experiences and imaginative expression.
